Guatemalans Illegaly Entering Belize

The situation on the Belize Guatemala border has become very dangerous and threatens the national security of Belize. The “authorities” informed local media house that there was only one truck that passed to Guatemala and it did not open fire on the SAT check point but was fired on by Guatemala military. Our further investigations have revealed that this claim by “Belize Authorities” is false. Eye witnesses to the event state clearly that there were two vehicles that approached the SAT checkpoint at the border. The occupants of the first truck disembarked and fired over the heads of the SAT […]

Benque Free Zone update

This update was sent in by an eye witness. Western Border update: 31-3-14 @1:30PM Game of cat and mouse, while Guatemalan security forces went for lunch, time to work fast! 🙂 Despite the gun fire and confiscation of goods by security forces earlier, see pics inside SAT office, the trafficking of contraband of illicit goods continue flowing from the Benque Viejo Free Zone, using under aged youths to carry in the goods through the contraband trails into Guatemala. Belize Contraband Turns Violent on Western Border

Armed contrabandistas shot their way across the Western Border crossing with Guatemala one evening about two weeks ago causing a serious International Incident. The peaceful nature of this usually quiet and unarmed border crossing was shattered as two trucks loaded with suspected contraband successfully entered Guatemala territory by use of force at the heavily traveled legal border crossing at Melchor de […]

Corruption is Crippling the Economy

Recently seemingly unrelated incidents have crippled our economy and few seem to be aware. The first incident that passed with little comment was the arrest of the major Guatemalan drug trafficker in San Ignacio by US authorities without the assistance or knowledge of the Belize Police. Shortly there after the Guatemala authorities clamped down on Melchor arresting and jailing a variety of Customs, tax officers, police and others while working to break up a big contraband ring working out of Belize. The ringleader was a Belizean who they apprehended at a roadblock in the Guatemala interior. Guatemala military searched businesses […]
