Integrating the Caribbean and Central America

In continuing with what I’ve been talking about for several years now as to how things are being integrated into districts and all that. Earlier posts talk about the over all picture, others talk about the regional CARICOM and SICA stuff and some other angle. This one speaks more into that. Time to wake up Belizeans. THE TIME TO SAVE YOUR COUNTRY IS BEFORE YOU LOSE IT! – Philip Stanley Wilberforce Goldson This was originally posted on Caribbean Journal By Alberto Duran and Noemi Areli Sanchez The Central American Integration System (SICA) was formed in 1991 and is a regional […]

The one with Guatemala and the Belizean SS

It was the early days of 2005, April to be more precise, when then opposition leader Dean Barrow led a nation against the PUP … In his own words: “In any case, the U.D.P. will, for its part, begin now a sustained campaign of civil disobedience. I have chosen that word deliberately in contrast to any other that might conjure up the spectre of violence. We are convinced that the objective can be achieved without any resort to violence.” “I’m not going to call any names, but we have seen on television the–and again I want to chose my words […]

Guatemala news posts video of BTV visit

In the video posted by media house Canal Antigua from Guatemala, they claim that the entire Sarstoon river, including the Sarstoon Island is in Guatemalan territory despite international knowledge and records reveals a clearly demarcated border showing otherwise. As the above image shows, the Island is clearly within Belizean territory. In the video below, it is clear that at least one of the Guatemalan boats pulled right up to the boat with Belizeans and tried to push them into Guatemalan territory (at about 2:35) as was told by members of the BTV crew. All this while the OAS representatives sat […]

Want to know the future of Belize? See Greece

Pay attention to what’s happening in Greece. We’ve posted about this before and things di geh dread as we say in Belize. Greece is slowly being led to slaughter house and Belize is going to the same place, Greece is at the door, Belize is making it’s way down the chute. Greece’s economy will be locked down with capital controls if it can’t find a deal by the weekend European governments are ready to push for capital controls in Greece would mean a severe lockdown on flows of cash … strict limits on the amount that could be withdrawn from […]

The Belize-Guatemala Conundrum

By Nick Pollard Jr. Spain and Great Britain left behind in Central America an unresolved Boundary Dispute between Guatemala and Belize for which there is absolutely no sign of a settlement almost 150 years later after various negotiations have failed even with the immediate arbitration of the O.A.S. Will the dispute be settled in the unforeseeable future by the ICJ or will the Security Council of the United Nations be forced to intervene? Thursday, 9 May 2013 GUATEMALA CANNOT BE TRUSTED IN FUTURE NEGOTIATIONS TO SETTLE THE OLD ANGLO-GUATEMALAN BORDER DISPUTE. Surprisingly, many Belizeans were not taken aback by Guatemala’s […]

Guatemala Warship in Belizean Territory

Not sure if others are blind to this and why the international governing bodies are not taking action. Maybe our politicians and those that are in place to do so still can’t grow a pair to demand that action be taken against the aggressive behavior against Belize and Belizeans. Recently there have been cases where Guatemalans illegally enter Belizean territory and squat right in the Adjacency Zone under the nose of the OAS. There is the case of Danny Conorquie that was shot at the Caracol Maya site in broad day light. Then we have the case of the Belize […]

The failures of Gang Prevention

This is an interesting report, seeing that Belize is trying to suppress gang activity and so far have been failing miserably at it. I have spoken on this before in discussions noting that the plans rolled out have done nothing more than quite things down for a short period only to make gang activity and crime return with more vengeance. Please take the time to read this report as it is vital to our strategic planning going forward, I will highlight the main points and link to the full report at the bottom of the page; hope the Government of […]

Crime and Society

By: Dr. Robert Winslow Belize is a parliamentary democracy with a constitution enacted in 1981 upon independence from the United Kingdom. Numerous ruins indicate that for hundreds of years Belize was heavily populated by the Maya Indians, whose relatively advanced civilization reached its height between A.D. 250 and 900. Eventually the civilization declined leaving behind small groups whose offspring still exist in Belize contributing positively to the culturally diverse population. In 1502, Columbus sailed through parts of the Caribbean, but did not actually visit the area later known as British Honduras. The first reference to European settlement in the colony […]
